A stunning early to mid Victorian (circa 1840-1860) era mourning or memorial brooch.
This piece features a multi-tiered composite design very common place for that time.
The front face is crafted from rich 18ct yellow gold, framing an exquisite plaque of vivid royal blue guilloché enamel. Applied to the centre is an elegant "Forget-Me-Not" floral spray, beautifully set with original natural split seed pearls.
The reverse features a solid 15ct yellow gold backing plate designed to act as a rigid structural frame to prevent the enamel from flexing. It features a traditional compartment historically used to house a woven hair memento.
A really beautiful piece of history.

Condition:-
Front Face: Good antique condition. The royal blue glass enamel has a small conchoidal fracture to the right hand side above the small pearl leaf detail (see photo and videos)  All seed pearls are present, well-matched.
Metal & Pin: The gold frame shows light, patina consistent with age. Unmarked but fully tested as 18ct (front details) and 15ct (backplate).
The pin stem is a historical base-metal replacement. It is strong and functions beautifully, offering a tight, secure hold when worn.
Reverse Locket: Please note that the rear locket compartment is currently empty and the protective glass panel is missing. The price has been adjusted downward to reflect this, allowing the next custodian to easily have a jeweller cut a replacement glass if desired.
