A superb large oval silver locket from the Victorian era. Engraved on both sides with a buckle or garter design.
In Victorian jewellery, the buckle motif held symbolic meanings of loyalty, fidelity, strength, eternal love and unbreakable bonds.
Most likely a mourning piece.
