A stunning Victorian mourning ring beautifully made in 9ct yellow gold.

Set with coral and seed pearls and complete with a secret compartment in the back with hair work.

Coral and seed pearls were often used to symbolise grief, purity and protection in the Victorian era.

In mourning jewellery seed pearls symbolised tears. Coral offered protection and it was considered only acceptable to wear it from the third less sever stage of the grieving process.
