An incredibly skilful and well-executed carving, the quality of the cameo is complemented by the fitted frame, which curves and moulds around the natural contortions of the shell.
 
The frame itself is engraved by hand, with added scrolling to the edges.
 
The carving depicts two lovers outside a home, maybe a happy greeting as the man returns home from an adventure.
