A stunning, large antique hand carved shell cameo ring. Dating from the late victorian era.
An incredibly skill full and well-executed carving, the quality of the cameo is complemented by the fitted frame, which curves and moulds around the natural contortions of the shell.
The carving depicts the profile of a noble looking older man, which is complemented by the deep bezel setting and beading detail around the ring.

Stamped 9CT and testing as 9ct gold. The setting and the ring shank are slightly different tones of gold and test differently. The ring shank is more rose gold in tone and tests as 9ct gold. The bezel setting around the cameo is more yellow gold in tone and is testing higher at 14/15ct. So may have been converted to a ring from a different piece of jewellery at some point.
